Advisory & Independent Study
Advisory
All students in grades six through eight belong to an advisory group of twelve to fourteen children who meet regularly under the direction of a teacher advisor. The main purpose of Advisory is to ensure a regular academic follow up of each student. The advisor is an important link in the student-school-family partnership that we strive to establish and maintain. The advisor is involved in most aspects of the school life of a Middle School student. Advisory groups are also social groups where discussions occur, school-wide issues are addressed, and special student events are planned.
Independent Study
Several times a week, an Independent Study time appears on each student’s schedule. During this time students can work on their homework, make up a quiz, get help from a teacher, or be requested to meet with a teacher. Independent Study can be a great way to use a short amount of time very efficiently.
