Health Protocols

The French International School of Oregon will continue to adjust and revisit health protocols as needed to meet state and local requirements, and to support the health and wellness of our community.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

French International requires employees and volunteers who work directly with students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the 2022-23 school year or provide a medical or religious exemption.

We strongly recommend students be vaccinated against COVID-19. Multnomah County strongly recommends that students be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations.

Isolation/Quarantine Protocols

If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19: Please contact nurse@faispdx.org and notify them of your positive test result. The nurse will instruct you or your student to isolate at home for at least five days after the positive test date. The person may return to school on day six if they have been fever-free for 24 hours and the other symptoms have improved. The person should wear a mask for five additional days (days 6-10).

If a student or staff member is exposed to someone who has COVID-19: Please contact nurse@faispdx.org. Staff and students who have been exposed are encouraged to wear a mask for five days following the exposure and monitor for any primary COVID-19 symptoms. Primary symptoms are cough, fever of 100.4F (38 Celsius) or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and a new loss of taste or smell. Students and staff who have been exposed are encouraged to take a COVID-19 test. Tests are available at school.

If a student or staff member is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms: Primary symptoms are cough, fever of 100.4F (38 Celsius) or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and a new loss of taste or smell. If a student or staff member is exhibiting these symptoms, they are encouraged to take a COVID-19 test. If the test result is positive, follow the protocols for a positive test result. If the test result is negative, the person may return to school after they have been fever-free for 24 hours and the other symptoms are improving.

Wearing Masks

Students, faculty, and the community are invited to wear masks while at school, but they are no longer required. Please also see our protocols if you or someone in your household test positive for COVID-19, as masks are required for a limited period of time. The school also reserves the right to return to masking should school or local conditions change and if required by health authorities.

If you have any questions regarding health and COVID-19 protocols, please contact the school nurse.
