French International offers advanced French classes to high school-aged alumni to prepare them for the DELF/DALF exams. This year, French International has a record 42 students taking after-school advanced French classes of various levels.

On March 17 and 18, French International third graders camped out in Tillamook for their field studies trip. They studied oceanography, arthropods, and coastal ecosystems. They also had smores, played games, and had a lot of fun!
On May 12, French International eighth graders jet-setted around the world for their international trips and two weeks abroad. This year's destinations were Chile, Germany, France, Spain, and Taiwan and each trip included stays in at least two different cities. The purpose of the eighth-grade trip is immersion in language and culture as well as personal growth and development. It is a capstone to students’ middle school language-learning experience.
French International graduate, Susanna Kramer, is headed to France for four weeks this summer to participate in SciencesPo Pre-College Program. Susanna graduated from French International in 2020 and is now a junior in high school. Hear from her about what this experience means.
French International sixth graders partnered with French International alumna, Catherine McCandless, for an end-of-the-year snack drive to support McDaniel High School. The goal was 2,000 individually wrapped snacks and the students collected more than 4,400.
To celebrate the end of their Lower School experience, French International fifth graders traveled to Strasbourg, France. The students went to school, spent some time with host families, and used the language and cultural skills they built during their time in Maternelle and Lower School. The students had a busy itinerary with museum visits, train rides, boat tours, and French food.

French International welcomed Sébastien Gavignet and Brice Verdure from SLAM Tribu to host poetry workshops with French International Lower School students. Every Lower School class had a 75-minute workshop on poetry, stage presence, body language, and showing emotions. In addition, fourth graders participated in a podcast workshop with the two poets.
On April 12, French International fifth graders presented their Primary Years Programme (PYP) exhibition projects to their classmates, teachers, parents, and other French International students. The exhibition is a culmination of seven weeks of research, action, and reflection on a topic of choice. It's one of the last projects during the PYP process and gives students a chance to demonstrate the aspects of the learner profile while making a difference in the community.
