Governance & Board of Trustees

French International School of Oregon is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees that does not represent a particular interest group, government, or church agency.

The Board oversees the financial management of the School, engages in long-range planning, and sets school policy. It reviews the French International Strategic Plan on an ongoing basis, and consistently communicates with our community about the School's goals and how they will be achieved; however, the daily management and operation of the School is the sole responsibility of the Head of School. The Board of Trustees comprises both parent members and community members who serve a term of three years and no more than two consecutive terms.

Board Goals

French International's board currently has 18 trustees who meet monthly. The Board set goals for the 2022-23 school year at the board retreat in September. Although these goals will be a central focus, there is more work to be done to ensure the Board is an effective fiduciary of French International and its plans for the future.

Board Committees

Much of the Board's work will be done in committees. All committees meet at least monthly, and (with the exception of the executive committee) are composed of both trustees and non-trustee community members. These are the committees in place for 2022-23:
